Koo-Ntakra, one of the finest rappers and songwriters in the Eastern region, has expressed his displeasure to VGMA ahead of their 23rd Xperience Concert at Koforidua, Jubilee Park, on April 18th, 2022.
In a Facebook post, KooNie, as affectionately called by his fans, elucidates his dissatisfaction about how upcoming artists in the host region billed to perform at the concert are being treated, and he can’t fathom why these home-grown artists (landlords) have to perform for free.
“Since they want us to perform, the question is, are we performing for free? From my camp, I had a call, and when I asked about the budget, they said, “They are giving us the platform,” he stated.
“A big platform therefore we should perform for free” He quizzed.
The award-winning rapper and songwriter also expressed his disappointment that the artists from the host region (Eastern) who were scheduled to perform on the day had been disrespected.
‘Even though it’s a “Nominees Jam”, we have homegrown artists, as you have labelled “landlords,” who have to be billed to perform. Every region has such artists and respect should be given to them whether they are nominated or not. The natives would wish to see them, therefore they should be billed to perform. This even boosts the fans and music lovers to support them more because it gives them the relief of supporting a good cause. We appreciate the opportunity given to our region, but the right thing should and must be done, since you’re the mother of music awards in Ghana, and want the betterment of the artistes’, he explained
The “Dream” hit maker, Koo Ntakra also added that he is not fighting for his self-fish gains, but rather for the betterment of the industry at large.
‘I am not fighting for myself, or against my colleagues but am fighting for the future and the upcoming musicians’, he said.
