The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, has cut sod to start the facelift of the Koforidua Sports Stadium to a modern standard facility.

This comes as part of government’s agenda to ensure that all regions in the country have modern sporting facilities.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony Hon. Asiamah said, “The new stadium will not only be a football pitch as we see now but will have several facilities including a FIFA standard pitch, a tennis court, a Taekwando and badminton center as well as a basketball and volleyball court”.

“It shall also have a youth center which will include guidance and counseling center, entrepreneurship center, ICT center, restaurant and a maintenance center,” he added.

At the end of the ceremony, Hon. Isaac Asiamah hinted that the next region to experience the sod-cutting exercise will be the Upper West Region.
