The late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu’s husband has denied any involvement in her death.
Peter Nwachukwu allegedly attacked the popular singer during their marriage, according to her family.
Mr. Nwachukwu, the pastor, disputed the claims of domestic abuse and battery levelled against him during police investigations, according to a Vanguard Nigeria story.
Mr. Nwachukwu informed the police that his wife had been sick since November 2021.
He claimed they had been travelling from one hospital to another since she became unwell, only for her to pass away over the weekend at the national hospital.
Despite his assertions, Mr. Nwachukwu was unable to give the police with evidence to back up his claims.
The husband of Nigerian musician Osinachi Nwachukwu, denies murdering his wife.
Pastor Peter Nwachukwu’s wife, Osinachi Nwachukwu, died on Friday, April 8, in an Abuja hospital.
There were reports that she died of cancer soon after her death. Her family, on the other hand, promptly went on record to refute the allegations.
Osinachi died as a result of a cluster of blood in her chest after her husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, kicked her in that area, according to her elder sister in an interview with Vanguard Nigeria at the time.
“The husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu hit her with his leg on the chest…she fell down and he took her to the hospital but he did not even tell us. It was her friend who lives in Ebonyi state that called her twin sister.” She added
Following that interview, police in Abuja announced the arrest of Osinachi’s husband, Peter Nwachukwu.
According to a Daily Post interview, the arrest was made after a family member filed a complaint.
Meanwhile, Pastor Nwachukwu was reportedly handcuffed and driven to his home in the Lugbe district on Tuesday.
This was done in order to look for documents or evidence that would aid in the investigation.
The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence after preliminary investigations.
